Risk Management

The Risk Management Section was established in March 2012 and forms part of the Tourism Department, in the Ministry of Tourism Civil Aviation Ports and Marine.

Its main function is to:-

1) Assess potential risks in the tourism industry

2) Work with the management of tourism businesses so as to ensure that they are prepared and able to respond to any crisis in regards to safety and  security, disasters and other extreme events affecting tourists.

The main objective of the risk assessments is to:-

a) Guide the Ministry on necessary measures that need to be adopted during policy formulation and decision making process.

b) To educate and raise awareness amongst tourism service providers within the sector about various risks affecting tourism so that timely action is taken to mitigate and reduce them.  Hence, preventing the adverse consequences on the industry.
