The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde yesterday visited two of the leading Destinations Management Companies (DMCs) in the country, namely Mason’s Travel and 7 Degrees South. These visits form part of a series of familiarization visits in the tourism industry, which had not been possible since he took office in November last year due to the sanitary restrictions.
In the morning, Minister Radegonde visited Masons Travel, based at Michel Building. He was welcomed by the Managing Director Mr. Alan Mason and Mr. Lenny Alvis the General Manager. He also had the opportunity to tour some of the offices and talked to members of the staff. Mason’s Travel is one of the oldest DMCs in the country and today it focuses mainly the European market.
In the afternoon, he also visited 7 Degrees South, located at Kingsgate House. This DMC, with over two decades of experience, currently employs over 50 employees. Its main market is Eastern Europe.
Minister Radegonde was welcomed by Mrs Anna Butler Payette, the Managing Director and the General Manager, Mr. Andre Payette and other staff members. He also visited the offices and staff.
At both DMCs the Minister had the opportunity to learn about the challenges they are facing during this critical time and the work they are doing to prepare themselves for the opening of our borders on the 25th March.
