Tourism Seychelles has been notified of a recent shark sighting near the island of Praslin earlier this week.
The sighting, reported by a yacht operator, occurred in open waters away from the coast.
The Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA), responsible for lifeguard operations, received information about a bull shark spotted near a vessel in the open sea close to Anse Lazio.
In response, lifeguards have intensified their monitoring of the area and are working closely with the Risk Management Unit at the Tourism Department to provide continuous updates and implement safety measures.
Tourism partners, including hotel and boat operators, are encouraged to reassure their clients and advise them to exercise caution when swimming in these areas. While shark sightings in open water are common, it is important to remain calm and vigilant, as all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure everyone’s safety.
