Tourism Seychelles Welcomes IndiGo Airlines’ Direct Flights from Mumbai to Seychelles

In a significant move to enhance air connectivity and bolster tourism, IndiGo Airlines has officially commenced direct flights between Mumbai and Seychelles. This new route, launched on Saturday, 22nd March, represents a major achievement in strengthening Seychelles’ position as a premier global travel destination.

The inaugural flight, which arrived at Seychelles International Airport at 13:10, was met with a warm welcome from key government and tourism representatives, including Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism; Mr. Antony Derjacques, Minister for Transport, Mrs. Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for the Tourism Department; Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing at the Tourism Department; and other distinguished officials.

As India’s largest airline, IndiGo operates over 2,200 daily flights to 128 destinations, 91 of which are within India, and 37 internationally. Known for its punctuality and affordable fares, the airline’s new service marks a significant leap in providing increased flexibility and convenience to travellers. The four weekly flights will cater to an increasing demand from India, one of the world’s fastest-growing travel markets, and facilitate the seamless movement of tourists eager to explore Seychelles’ pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush tropical landscapes.

In his remarks, Minister Sylvestre Radegonde expressed his excitement about the new direct link, stating that the milestone marks a new chapter in the nation’s tourism sector, strengthening the bond with India and reinforcing Seychelles’ position as a premier destination for Indian travellers. “With over 25 million Indians travelling overseas, this new connectivity will make it easier for more visitors to experience the natural beauty and unique offerings of Seychelles,” he stated.

He also emphasised the importance of air connectivity, adding, “India’s rising disposable income and growing passion for travel make Seychelles an irresistible choice. The introduction of direct flights from Mumbai brings not just greater connectivity, but also affordability. With IndiGo’s competitive pricing, we now offer a more accessible gateway to our islands, making it easier than ever for Indian travellers to enjoy the magic of Seychelles.”

He further highlighted that this partnership extends beyond air travel, deepening cultural ties, expanding business opportunities, and fostering a long-term relationship between the two nations.

The introduction of these direct flights is expected to stimulate significant economic activity and further position Seychelles as a leading tourist destination in the Indian Ocean. As the islands embrace sustainable tourism practices, this new connectivity reinforces the country’s

commitment to providing high-quality experiences that resonate with travellers from around the globe.
