42 Tourism Partners Celebrated at Sustainable Tourism Ceremony

The Tourism Department hosted the first Sustainable Seychelles Recognition & Certification Ceremony of 2025, celebrating 42 tourism partners for their unwavering commitment to sustainability. Held at Eden Bleu Hotel on April 3rd, the event marked yet another milestone in Seychelles’ ongoing efforts to promote responsible tourism.

Part of the Sustainable Seychelles brand, the Sustainable Seychelles Recognition and Certification Programme is an initiative designed to inspire, support, and recognise tourism partners that integrate sustainable practices into their operations.

This year’s ceremony also introduced a significant new milestone: the Sustainable Seychelles Platinum Award—the highest distinction within the programme. Through this prestigious accolade—awarded to the Constance Ephelia Resort—Seychelles recognises establishments that have gone above and beyond in sustainability, meeting exemplary standards of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic resilience.

To qualify for the Platinum Award, properties must have been certified for at least 10 years, consistently demonstrated improvement, and achieved a score of at least 90% of the total possible points. These pioneering establishments are setting a benchmark for others in the industry, proving that sustainable practices can be both achievable and transformative.

The event gathered tourism stakeholders, industry leaders, and sustainability advocates to recognise the incredible efforts of tourism partners in Seychelles that have embraced sustainable practices. The Seychelles Sustainable Brand aims to protect Seychelles’ unparalleled natural beauty while encouraging a more responsible and sustainable approach to tourism. The programme is voluntary, user-friendly, and offers opportunities for businesses of all sizes—accommodation providers, restaurants, and tour operators—to showcase their commitment to sustainability.

The event was attended by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde and the ministry was represented by the Principal Secretary for Tourism, Mrs. Sherin Francis and the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Vivienne Fock Tave, as well as the Director General for Destination Marketing, Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Planning and Development, Mr. Paul Lebon, and the Director General for Administration and Human Resources, Ms. Jenifer Sinon.

Other important partners present at Eden Bleu were Principal Secretary for the Department for Culture, Ms Cecile Kalebi, Principal Secretary for Environment, Mr Denis Matatiken, and his colleague, the Principal Secretary for Climate Change, Mr Tony Imaduwa.

During his remarks, Minister Sylvestre Radegonde mentioned, “With the launch of the new Sustainable Seychelles Programme, we have broadened our ambition, refined our framework, and invited more properties and partners to join a national movement towards sustainability. Last year, we recognised 52 pioneering properties who embraced this new programme. Today, I am proud to announce that 42 new properties have joined the programme—bringing our total to 94 recognised leaders in sustainability in just two years! All the 42 newly awarded properties have attained Silver level, reflecting a robust commitment to sustainability.

Moreover, six previously awarded properties have been re-certified, a testament to their exceptional commitment and proof that sustainability isn’t a one-time effort, but a culture of constant improvement. It is important to highlight that once a property reaches certification level it is internationally recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council(GSTC).”
Furthermore, the ceremony highlighted the remarkable efforts made by local tourism businesses, recognising those who have achieved Sustainable Seychelles Recognition at silver level. These awards celebrate the tangible steps businesses have taken in areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and community engagement.
During the event, certificates were presented to a diverse group of outstanding tourism establishments that have demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability.

The Sustainable Seychelles Recognition went to the following properties:
A Peace In Paradise, Amanda Villa, Au Cap Self-Catering, Azamat Self-Catering, Beach Cove, Beau Vallon Villa Chalet, Belle Montagne Holiday, Beryl Guesthouse, Blue Lagoon, Bois Joli, Casa Tara, Chalets Côte Mer, Chalets Bougainville, Chez Julie, Colibri Guest House, Creole Breeze, Creole Pearl, Felicie Cottage, Fish Trap, Forest Lodge, Karibou Villa, La Maison Hibiscus, La Vue Self-Catering, Le Grand Bleu, Les Villas D’Or, L’Ilot Beach Chalets, Lo Brizan Restaurant, Mabuya Beach Restaurant, Maison Dora, Maison Marengo, Mouggae Blues, Oasis Hotel and Restaurant, Paradise Breeze Apartments, Pascalo Villa, Pirogue Lodge, Sun Bird Villa, The Runway Lodge, Tropical Hideaway, Villa Batista Beach Bungalow, Villa De Mer, Villa Kordia, and Waterlily Guesthouse.
