Tourism Seychelles Strengthens Presence in South Korea with Successful Trade and Media Workshop in Seoul

As part of its ongoing strategy to deepen engagement across Asia, Tourism Seychelles successfully hosted a dedicated workshop in Seoul on Monday, 9 June, at the prestigious Lotte Hotel. The event brought together 27 key industry stakeholders, including top-tier media representatives, airline partners, and leading travel agencies, underscoring Seychelles’ growing commitment to the South Korean market.

The workshop was organised and led by Mrs. Amia Jovanovic-Desir, Manager for the South-East Asian markets, and Mrs. Saida Mussard, Marketing Executive at Tourism Seychelles.

Marking a first for this market, a Seychelles-based trade partner joined the event. Mr. Steven Stefaniuk, General Manager of Raffles Seychelles, collaborated with the Tourism Seychelles team following his participation in the 40th Seoul International Travel Fair (SITF), held from 5–8 June at COEX. His presence underscored the increasing interest of high-end resorts in building direct relationships with Korean travel and media professionals.

Attendees were treated to a comprehensive presentation highlighting the Seychelles Islands’ wide-ranging tourism offerings. The session spotlighted accommodation options from boutique guesthouses to luxury resorts, appealing to the diverse preferences of South Korean travellers. Raffles Seychelles was also featured, offering insights into its exclusive experiences. A tasting of Takamaka Rum, Seychelles' iconic local spirit, added a flavourful cultural touch to the event.

While Seychelles is traditionally recognised in South Korea as a top honeymoon destination, Tourism Seychelles used the occasion to reposition the destination as a versatile choice for a broader audience, including families, nature lovers, and adventure seekers.

“There is so much more to Seychelles beyond its romantic image,” said Mrs. Jovanovic-Desir. “From world-class diving and fly fishing to scenic hiking, golf, and deep-sea fishing, the destination offers something for every type of traveller.”

The presentation sparked particular interest among professional divers in attendance, who expressed enthusiasm about exploring Seychelles’ rich marine life and renowned dive sites.

“Our strategy is to consistently engage in targeted promotional activities that speak directly to the needs of the market,” added Mrs. Jovanovic-Desir. “This workshop is part of our wider effort to establish a stronger foothold and long-term visibility in South Korea.”

The event concluded on a high note with a lucky draw, offering attendees the chance to win a familiarisation trip to Seychelles, an announcement that was met with much excitement. All participants received Seychelles-branded promotional materials and keepsakes, along with a hosted lunch.

Tourism Seychelles remains committed to cultivating strategic partnerships and enhancing destination awareness in South Korea through focused and sustained outreach.
