Celebrating Excellence: 16 Students Graduate from the Shannon College of Ireland

The Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) proudly announces the graduation of its 11th cohort from the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (ADHM) programme at the Shannon College of Hotel Management in Ireland. The graduation ceremony, held on March 7, 2024, was a momentous occasion attended by Mr. Terence Max, Director of the Seychelles Tourism Academy.

Sixteen students have recently completed their Bachelor of Business Studies in International Hotel Management. These students had joined the degree programme in its fourth year after successfully completing the first three years of the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management (ADHM) programme at the Seychelles Tourism Academy.

The ceremony also highlighted the outstanding accomplishments of two exceptional graduates. Ms. Sherine Woodcock was awarded Best International Student award, recognising her exemplary performance and contribution to the global community. Mr. Mehdi Stravens received the prestigious Marriott Voyage Award of Service Excellence for his remarkable achievements and dedication to excellence in hospitality.

Mr. Terence Max, Director of the Seychelles Tourism Academy, expressed his satisfaction in the graduates’ accomplishments, emphasising the collaborative efforts of the Seychelles Tourism Academy faculty, Shannon College, and supportive families. He reiterated the Academy’s commitment to nurturing Seychellois talents and preparing them for leadership roles in the hospitality industry.

“This year’s graduation ceremony was a source of great pride for us at the Seychelles Tourism Academy. We were particularly thrilled to see the exceptional efforts made by our students, especially the two graduates who received special awards. As an academy, we remain committed to supporting the professional growth and advancement of our graduates. We have a strong partnership with the Department of Tourism, our parent ministry, to ensure that our graduates have the necessary support and opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sector. Our goal is to retain local talent and contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of the industry,” said Mr Max.

The partnership between the Shannon College of Hotel Management and the Seychelles Tourism Academy dates back to 2010 when the first cohort embarked on the course. The ADHM Programme is supervised by Shannon College and has been validated by the National University of Galway, Ireland.
