UN Tourism Team and CAF Delegates Arrive in Seychelles for the 69th CAF Meeting

Seychelles has officially welcomed the arrival of the UN Tourism team, led by the Secretary-General of UN Tourism, HE Shaikha Al Nuwais, together with delegates from across Africa ahead of the 69th Meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF), to be held on the main island of Mahé from 2nd to 4th June.

The delegates were warmly received upon arrival at the Pointe Larue Airport, by representatives of the Seychelles Tourism Board and key partners, reflecting renowned Seychellois hospitality and the nation’s readiness to host one of Africa’s most significant tourism gatherings.

The 69th CAF Meeting, which will also feature a Thematic Conference on Strengthening Human Capital to Boost Africa’s Tourism Growth, will bring together Ministers responsible for Tourism, senior government officials, tourism experts, and industry stakeholders from across the African continent to discuss key priorities shaping the future of tourism in Africa.

Speaking on the arrival of the Secretary-General of UN Tourism, HE Shaikha Al Nuwais, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mrs Amanda Bernstein, expressed her appreciation to all partners involved in welcoming the international guests.

“We are delighted to welcome the UN Tourism delegation and our colleagues from across Africa to Seychelles. It is a privilege for our island nation to host the 69th CAF Meeting and provide a platform for meaningful discussions that will help shape the future of tourism across the continent. We look forward to productive exchanges and to showcasing the warmth of our people, our unique Creole culture, and our commitment to sustainable tourism.”

Beyond the official programme, delegates will have the opportunity to experience Seychelles’ rich cultural heritage, authentic Creole hospitality, and world-renowned natural beauty, further highlighting the country’s position as a leading sustainable tourism destination.

The 69th Meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa is expected to reinforce partnerships among African Member States while supporting the shared vision of a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable tourism sector for the continent.
